Meddling in the scam or fraud is as usual today, interestingly, educated people are the ones who become cheated by fraudsters more than the countryside citizen. The best is always be an eye on it and follow some rules before entertaining any such approaches. Hope it may useful

• Watch keenly on the promises, contradictory statements, use of logos and company name.
• Check documents you got online and visit original websites or contact the company directly to confirm the authenticity.
• search on google about the matter/visit concerned government department websites, search for reviews or complaints on the particular matter
• Study on complaint mechanism of the particular company/website/ contact/address / registrations etc
• Confirm they are asking for your credentials like banking information, OTP, account details, unusual personal information etc.
• Weather they are forcing you to transfer/handover the matters they need
• check signatories, round seal etc.

if you found some loops in between;

• Do not take any decision as quickly and not sign on any papers without proper study.
• Do not hand over any document to any person or institution instantly
• Discuss with known advocate/civil officials or police regarding matters to obtain a concrete output.
• Wisely collect the information about the person or institution that approached you from there itself.
• Collect the proof of trust they hold and show it to you to make you trust, registration number, certifications etc. And verify it via online or offline.
• Collect information about their bank, branch, account details if possible during the conversation with you( it may help you block their account if you got cheated)

Realize that a cheater never gives you any authentic input or document which is going to book them, so be prepared.

Ask questions and try to find any contradictory / unsatisfied answers on the loop

The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund scheme used to provide treatment to any person who was injured in a road accident. As per 2019 Motor Vehicles Amendment bill, a uniform compulsory insurance cover provided for all road users in India. Hit and run cases are common in roads and most of the time if the victim is not financially fit/unidentified victim, might be denied to have advance treatment in hospitals.

The transport ministry finalized an eight-fold increase in case of death in hit and run cases and for insured vehicles ten times. The increased compensation aimed to avail immediate relief to victims and their family.

As per the new rule, compensation for hit and run death cases fixed to 2 lacs and for grievous injuries will be 50 000 INR. Moreover, in case a crashed vehicle can be traced, compensation will be 5 lakhs to death and 2.5 lakhs would be on serious injuries. Insurance companies will offer compensation within a month of the accident to the victim/family, and can move to the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal if not satisfied with the offer.

Hit and Run Claims procedure

“The victim of the “hit-and-run” vehicle or his legal representative shall make an application to the Claim Enquiry Officer in each Taluk. After due enquiries, the Claims Enquiry Officer will submit a report together with certificate of post mortem or injury certificate to the claims settlement commissioner who will either be the District Collector or the Deputy Commissioner at the District level. He will process the claims and sanction the payment within 15 days from the receipt of the report from the Claim Enquiry Officer and communicate the sanction order to the nominated office of the Insurance Company. The compensation under Hit and Run Accident cases are made from a Solatium Fund which is contributed by the General Insurance industry under an agreed formula. The administration of claims is done by New India Assurance Co Ltd which has nominated one Divisional Manager in each district at District Level Committee which is headed by District Collector”

Apply in prescribed format within 90 days of accident/death to the concerned department/company along with requisite documents;

1.Proof of age of victim,

2. Death certificate/permanent disability certificate from medical board
3. Certified copy FIR of the incident
4. Proof of relation of applicant to the victim
5. Photographs of the scene of accident
6. statement of witness recorded by the police.
7. photographs, specimen signatures attested by the bank

Consumer protection act 2019, brings online trading and selling platforms under the cover of law to protect the interest of the public. The Act prescribes Rules for preventing fraud and unfair trade practices in the e-commerce sector. Covers E-Commerce Transactions: The New Act has widened the definition of ‘consumer’. The definition now includes any person who buys any goods, whether through offline or online transactions, electronic means, teleshopping, direct selling or multi-level marketing.

It is preferable that all e-commerce companies should have a refund or return policy but there is no such law which enforces it. However, if there is any deficiency, the consumer is protected under Consumer Protection Act and can seek redressal for the same.

Whenever you shop online, read the printed part carefully. Make sure you are aware of shipping charges, delivery time, and cancellation and return policies, as well as the warranty clauses. Keep your financial information and passwords safe and always make payment through secured gateways like? https and lock image? in its URL. If you are shopping on the website for the first, opt for cash on delivery payment option. Always check if the website has a landline phone and postal address.

All after you got a damaged/fake product? Then you must file a complaint in the company site if any, else send an email letter by explaining the matter. Still not resolved, approach National Consumer Helpline (NCH) portal https://consumerhelpline.gov.in/user/signup.php and lodge a formal complaint. Similarly, if you found similar complaints against a particular company and the money you paid was collected in a dubious way, you can register with the National Cyber Crime portal for quick relief. Simultaneously lodge or write the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal (MCA) to inquire about this company and its violation of rules.

Similar approach can be taken if you got cheated from a travel site. If money is collected from you and you do not give a ticket and cancel the booking, the above would be the best approach to resolve the issue quickly. If none of the approaches are working, then you can file a complaint in your district consumer forum for redressal. in case of fraudulent transactions, a consumer should lodge a First Information Report (FIR) or make a police complaint or to Cyber Cell, if the company is not traceable.

Consumers should maintain papers, documents – bills, warranty card, agreement copy, brochures, working manual, and so on carefully. Besides that, after a couple of phone calls maybe, start communication in writing with the service provider or manufacturer of the product,”
